Another week gone!

Hi again all

It seems to have gone by very slowly and quickly at the same time! I can't believe it's been a week since I was sat at T5, waiting to get to Prague.

Anyhoo - we had an absolute ball in Prague. It was our first proper relax since the holiday began... and a good chance to spend some leisurely time together, without all the "pit stops". Nice as it has been to see everyone, it's also been very tiring juming from one place to the next.

As many of you would have seen from my Facebook updates - I was, however, *VERY* angry that my brand new (and expensive) Canon camera broke. Well, the lens did, anyway. So much for Canon being a good brand. 6 weeks and a few thousand shots and the lens packs up. Not what I'd call high quality.

To make matters worse, the warranty offered was only valid in Australasia... so let that be a warning to anyone buying a new camera to go on holiday: check where you can get it fixed if it breaks down.

The option to pay to get it fixed in Czech didn't work, as he needed 2 weeks to get the part in. Canon UK, however, agreed I could get it fixed in Glasgow. We had the same problem, tho, as it was going to take a week to fix it and I only had 3 days.

Apparently, swapping the broken lens for one that works (even when it's only 6 weeks old) is out of the question. Of course it is.

So, we're using Jay's camera at the moment. I'm so glad to be lugging around a heavy Canon paperweight and tripod now. Not! If you're in the market for a new camera - maybe think twice about Canon. If only I'd gone for the Nikon instead...!

Anyway, now I feel better after a whinge. Back to the holiday.

Prague was as beautiful as I remember. The hotel we excellent (Hotel Jalta HIGHLY recommended for anyone going to Prague). Food was great. We were very excited, on the way home one night, when we bought 2 pints of lager, 2 x 2 litre bottles of water and the best Kransky hotdog in the world for just £7 / AU$14.

Ater Prague, we headed to Scotland, to see all the family. It was the usual chaos (children can be so noisy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) but it was lovely to see everyone. In keeping with the Scottish summer, it rained like buggery almost the whole time we were there, tough we did have a few hours of sun on Sat afternoon, where we could play footy with the kids and have a beer or two.

As expected, we ate too much, drank too much - but had a great time.

Yesterday (Sunday) we headed back to my brother's near Stoke-on-Trent. After a well-needed sleep, we're off to see Tina and Luke in Scunthorpe today. Then we're off to London to catch up with Paul, meet Drew and we might even be catching up with Joel, who arrives from Melbourne tomorrow.

After that, we're off to Greece for a week or so. Not sure if we're going to Turkey now, as we've cut the trip short by 2 days to do more catching up with people ... we'll see how it goes.

Got to sign off now, as Jay's hounding me to get going.

Love to you all from me and him xXx
